How to Get a Free Email Domain (5 Quick and Easy Methods)

Are you looking for a free email domain? The email domain is part of an email address that comes after the @ symbol.

It is really important to get an email domain for your business instead of using a generic Yahoo, Gmail, or Hotmail email address.

Customers and other business owners are reluctant to trust emails coming from a generic email account. A custom domain email address looks more professional and gives credibility to your business.

In this guide, we will show you few different ways to easily get a free email domain for your business.

Getting a free email domain for your business

What is an Email Domain? (Definition)

An email domain is the web address that comes after the @ symbol in an email address. For example, in an email like syed@companyname.com, “compnayname.com” is the email domain.

Email domains allow you to setup an email address with @company name using your own business / brand name.

You can either buy an email domain, or you can get a free email domain for your business when you create a website.

Since there are multiple ways to get a free email domain for your business, we have covered the best options in this guide:

  1. Bluehost
  2. HostGator
  3. DreamHost
  4. G Suite (Paid but better)
  5. Office 365 (Paid but better)

Ready? Let’s get started.

Method 1. Get Free Email Domain with Bluehost

Normally, a custom domain name would cost you $14.99 per year and email hosting services start from $9.88 per month (usually paid annually).

This is a significant amount of money specially when you are first starting a business website.

Luckily our friends at Bluehost has agreed to offer WPBeginner users free email domain with discounted hosting packages.

Basically, you will get a free email domain with a shared hosting plan and a free SSL certificate for $2.75 per month.

Each account includes webmail, email forwarding, spam protection, and the ability to use any email client on your mobile phone or desktop to send or receive emails.

Here is to get your free email domain with Bluehost.

Step 1. Set up your free email domain

First, you need to visit the Bluehost website and click on the Get Started button.

Bluehost get started

Next, you will see the pricing page where you’ll be asked to select a plan. Basic and Plus plans are popular among businesses looking for an email domain.

Click to select a plan, and you will be taken to the next step. From here, you will choose a free email domain name.

Select your free email domain

After that, click on the next button to continue.

Bluehost will now check the availability of the domain name you entered. If the domain name is unavailable, then it will show you some alternative options to choose from, or you can just enter a new domain name.

For tips on choosing a domain name, see our article on how to choose a domain name for your business.

After you have selected the domain name, you’ll need to enter your account information and finalize the plan details.

Package details

You’ll notice some optional extras on this page. You can safely uncheck them to keep your costs down.

Lastly, you need to enter your payment information to complete the purchase.

You will now receive an email with details on how to login to your account control panel. This is where you manage everything including email accounts and other settings.

Step 2. Adding email accounts to your domain

Once you log in to your account dashboard, click on the ‘Email & Office’ menu from the left column and then click on the ‘Manage’ button.

Manage email

This will bring you to an email account management area. From here you need to click on the ‘Create’ button to add a new email account.

Next, you need to enter the email address you want to use and then enter a password. Optionally, you can choose how much storage you want to allow.

Creating a new email account

After that, click on the create button to save your new email account.

Bluehost will now create your email account, and you will see a success message.

Step 3. Using your custom domain email with Bluehost

Now that you have created your first account on your email domain. Let’s start using it.

There are multiple ways to use your new email account.

1. Webmail

Bluehost provides a neat interface to manage your email under your account using your browser.

Simply go to Email & Office » Manage page and click on the Check Email link next to the account you just created.

Check email in Bluehost

You’ll be asked to select a default webmail app. They all work the same, but Roundcube has a cleaner interface.

2. Other Devices and Apps

You can also send/receive email using any email app like Outlook, Thunderbird, or another mail app on your phone or computer.

Simply head over to Email & Office » Manage page and then click on the ‘Connect Devices’ icon.

Connect devices

On the next page, you’ll see a list of all popular email apps and devices. Click on the app you want to connect, and you’ll see step by step instructions to connect your email client.

Mail clients

Below the list, you’ll also find manual settings to connect any other device or app that is not already listed.

Manual mail settings

3. Use it with Gmail

Gmail not only allows you to send and receive emails to your Google account, but you can also use it as a full-fledged email client to get all your email in one place.

You will be able to send emails using your custom domain email directly from your free Gmail account or mobile app.

Simply log in to your Gmail account and click on the Gear icon to select the Settings page. From here, switch to the ‘Accounts and Import’ tab.

Add mail account

Scroll down to the ‘Check mail from other accounts’ section and click on ‘Add a mail account’ link.

This will bring up a popup where you will need to add your custom domain email address. On the next screen, you will be asked to provide your account details.

Connecting Bluehost email to Gmail

Your username and password will be the complete email address you created earlier and its password. The POP server value will be your domain name with a mail prefix.

You must select ‘Always use a secure connection (SSL)…’ option and then change the port value to 995.

Click on the Add account button to save your settings.

Next, Gmail will ask you if you would want to use that account to send emails. Select ‘Yes’ and then click on the Next button.

Send email via Gmail

After that, you will be asked to provide a sender name. You can also choose to use this account as an alias.

Basically, an alias is useful when you own two email addresses. For example, an individual’s company email account.

Uncheck the alias box, if you want to keep the ownership of this account separate. For example, if it is your business’s departmental address like support@example.com or info@yourdomain.com.

Sender information

Click on the ‘Next Step’ button to continue.

Now, you will need to provide your server’s SMTP information. SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is the industry standard to securely send emails.

SMTP information

Your SMTP outgoing server will be mail.yourdomain.com (replace yourdomain.com with your actual email domain). After that use your complete email address as the user name and enter the email account’s password.

Click on the ‘Add account’ button to continue.

Gmail will now send a verification code to the email address. Since you have already added that email address, you will get the email directly in your Gmail inbox. Copy the code and enter it to complete the SMTP setup.

That’s all. You can now use your Gmail account to send and receive emails using your custom domain.

Method 2. Get Free Email Domain with HostGator

Another easy way to get a free email domain is by signing up for HostGator’s hosting plan. They are one of the top hosting companies in the world and offer excellent plans for startups and small businesses.

Skip Addons

You can now review your order details and click on the ‘Checkout Now’ button to complete the purchase.

You will now receive an email from HostGator with details on how to login to your hosting dashboard.

Method 4: Create Custom Domain Email with G Suite (Paid Solution)

Email is crucial for the success of any business, which is why we recommend using G Suite.

G Suite is Google’s suite of applications for small businesses. It allows you to use the same Google apps like Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Calendar, but with your own domain name.

You also get Google’s powerful spam filtering and security features for your business email. It is much easier to use and works on all your devices.

To get started, you need to visit the G Suite website and select a plan.

G Suite plan

Their basic plan starts from $6 per user per month with 30 GB of storage. You can also choose the business plan which starts from $12 per month per user and gives you unlimited storage.

Next, you will be asked to enter your company name, size, and country.

Company information

After that, you need to enter your contact information and click on the Next button.

This will bring you to the domain selection screen.

If you already have a domain name that you would like to use, then you can use that. Otherwise, go ahead and select ‘I’d like to buy a domain name’ option.

Buy domain name

You can now enter the domain name you want to register and click on the Next button. If your entered domain is available you will see its pricing.

If you need more detailed instructions, then please see our guide on how to create a professional email with G Suite.

Most business owners do not buy an email domain from G Suite. Instead they start with the free email domain services offered by their web hosting companies and then later switch to G Suite when they can afford it.

We use G Suite for our business because it allows us to better data retention, easy file management, calendar, and tons of other useful apps to grow our business.

Method 5: Create Domain Email with Office 365 (Paid Solution)

Microsoft Office also provides its office suite called Office 365 with support for custom domain email. In terms of features and functionality, it is similar to G Suite.

Want to see compare both platforms, then see our comparison of G Suite vs Office 365 to find out how they stack up against each other.

Here is how you would set up your custom domain email with Office 365.

Step 1. Setting up Office 365 with custom domain email

First, you need to visit the Office 365 website and click on ‘Buy Now’ button under the plan you want to purchase.

This will bring you the Office 365 sign up page, where you will be first asked to provide an email address.

Office 365 signup

After this, you will be asked to provide your personal and business information.

Next, you will be asked to choose a domain name. Microsoft only provides a subdomain, and you will have to purchase and add a custom domain name separately.

Subdomain

Go ahead and enter a suitable subdomain for your business and click on the Next button.

After that, you will fill in your payment information to complete the sign up process.

Step 2. Add Custom Domain to Office 365

Microsoft does not provide domain registration service, which means you’ll need to separately buy a domain name or use an existing domain name to add in Office 365.

There are a number of domain registrars that sell domain names. We recommend using Domain.com as they are the best domain registrar on the market.

Simply visit the Domain.com website and look for the domain name you want to purchase. WPBeginner users can use our Domain.com coupon code to get additional discount.

Search domain name

If your selected domain name is available, then you can proceed to the billing and complete the purchase.

Complete domain registration

Now, let’s add this domain to Office 365.

Head over to your Office 365 admin dashboard and then click on Set up » Domains page.

Add domain to Office 365

Next, click on the ‘Add Domain’ button and then add the domain you purchased earlier.

After that, you will be asked to verify your ownership of that domain name and point it to work with Office 365.

Verify domain name

You will see some DNS records on screen which you need to add to your newly registered domain’s settings.

Switch back to the Domain.com and login to access your domain settings. Select your domain name and then click on the DNS and Nameservers menu.

Domain DNS Settings

First, you need to select TXT/SPF record and enter the value shown by Office 365.

Adding TXT record

Step 3. Create custom domain email addresses in Office 365

Now that you have added your email domain to Office 365, let’s create a custom business email address.

From your Office 365 dashboard, go to Users » Active Users and then click on Add a user button.

Add user in Office 365

On the next screen, you need to provide the user’s personal information and then choose an email address for them.

User information and email address

Don’t forget to click on the Add button to save user settings.

Step 4. Using your Office 365 custom domain email account

Microsoft offers a web version of their popular Outlook email software called Outlook.com. From here, you can simply log in using the email address you created earlier.

Sign in Outlook

Your Office 365 subscription also allows you to download Microsoft Office apps on your computer. This includes their popular Outlook email client.

Microsoft Outlook on Mac

You can also use your custom domain email address with Outlook app on your mobile phone.

If you would rather prefer to use another app, then your email address will work with just about any mail client and app without any special configuration.

Which is Truly The Best Free Email Domain Option?

We have shown you three free email domain solutions and two paid ones. All of them would work well for a small business, and even large enterprises.

Most small business owners start with a free custom email domain offered by their web hosting company. This option is extremely affordable because it’s included in a package deal when you build a website.

Companies like Bluehost, HostGator and Dreamhost, give you a free business email address with your own free domain when you use their hosting service to build a WordPress website.

As your business grows and you can afford the extra $6 per month, then you can use G Suite by Google. It gives you the familiar Google apps Gmail, Drive, Calendar, and more with your own business name. It is easy, secure, and comes with the best spam protection in the industry.

We use G Suite in our own business.

But remember, you don’t want to register your domain with G Suite because you likely want to build a website using that domain name too, and Google does not offer a website builder.

Instead you should register your domain name with a proper domain registrar like Domain.com or use a WordPress hosting company like Bluehost to get a domain and build a website.

And after that, you can use this custom domain in your G Suite settings, so you can retain full control over your domain at all times.

We hope this article helped you learn how to get a free email domain for your business. 7 Best Podcast Hosting for 2019 Compared (Most are Free)

Several of our readers have asked us about finding the best podcast hosting service.

Podcast hosting is different than website hosting because it offers specific tools built to optimize the subscriber experience (we’ll explain more later in the article).

Choosing a reliable podcasting hosting platform is crucial for your podcast because it will help you grow your audience faster while making it easier to manage your podcast files.

In this article, we’ll compare the best podcast hosting companies that you can use. Many of them are free and some charge a small fee because they offer better support and tools.

The best podcast hosting companies compared

What is Podcast Hosting and Why You Need it?

Podcast hosting is a specialized service which offers to store and deliver media files associated with a podcast.

Just like you need a website hosting service to store all your website files, a podcast hosting offers the same service but for your podcast’s media files.

Now you may be wondering, couldn’t I just use my website hosting to store my podcast files as well?

You can do that, but that wouldn’t be good for your website or your listeners.

You see, podcast episodes are large files. Delivering them from the same server will take a lot of server resources.

This would make your website slower, and it can even crash during high load.

If several users start downloading at the same time, then most shared hosting services will simply block the processes that are taking up server resources. This means users will not be able to download your podcast.

And that’s precisely why you need a podcast hosting service.

Why podcast hosting?

These companies specialize in storing and delivering large media files. They are made specifically for podcasters and have specialized tools to handle media files.

You also get support from folks who are specialists in the industry. This makes a huge difference in the long run.

That being said, let’s take a look at the best podcast hosting services that you can use.

Best Podcast Hosting Services

There are many companies offering podcast hosting services. However, we will be looking for the ones that are the easiest to use, offer great tools and support, and of course flexibility in file sizes.

SoundCloud is free for up to 3 hours of uploads. Their free plan gives a good starting point for beginners who want to test the waters first.

Their paid plans come with more storage, bandwidth, advanced statistics, monetization and distribution options. It is easy to use but not the most flexible or customizable podcast hosting plan.

Pricing: Free plan with 3 hours of upload limit. Paid plans start from $6 per month.

Which is The Best Podcast Hosting Service?

As you can see that many podcast hosting services offer similar plans with matching features. Some put limits on storage space and some limit downloads.

Considering these factors, we recommend Podbean as the overall best podcast hosting service. Their plans come with unlimited storage and bandwidth with an incredibly easy to use platform. They also allow you to easily promote your podcast across different services.

Our second recommendation Would be BuzzSprout. It is one of the easiest podcast hosting solution perfect for beginners to get started.

How to Start a Podcast?

Apart from a podcast hosting service, you will also need a website. This will be your podcast’s home on the internet where you’ll promote it and help users discover more content.

To make a website, you’ll need a domain name and a website hosting account.

The domain name will typically cost you $14.99 per year and website hosting plans start from $7.99 per month usually paid annually.

Since you are just starting out, you want to save money whenever you can.

Luckily, our friends at Bluehost are offering WPBeginner users a free domain and a generous discount on hosting.

→ Claim This Exclusive Bluehost Offer ←

For complete step by step instructions, see our guide on how to make a website.

Next, you will need to set up your podcast. We have created a step by step guide to start a podcast for beginners, it will walk you through complete set up including how to record your podcasts.

What Equipment do You Need for Podcasting?

Many professional podcasters use a variety of equipment to record podcasts. This includes microphones, audio interface, mixers, windscreen, shock mounts, and more.

All of this equipment costs a lot of money.

However, you don’t need all of them just to record a Podcast. The only equipment we recommend buying from the start is a good microphone.

We recommend using Rode Podcaster, which you can plug into your computer using a USB port.

If you can spare a little more, then you can purchase the Rode Podcaster Kit which comes with a boom arm and a shock mount.

Alternative: Samson C01UCW is a good entry level microphone to record podcasts.

Once your podcast grows and you’re making money from it, then you can invest in improving your setup. But remember you can’t improve something if you don’t start it, so just start!

How to Promote Your Podcast

Many of the above-mentioned podcast hosting services allow you to automatically submit your podcast to different podcast directories and search engines.

You can also manually submit your podcast as well. Once approved your podcast and all its episodes will become discoverable on these platforms.

Your podcast is published as an RSS feed. You will need to copy the podcast feed URL provided by your podcast hosting service.

9 Proven Ways to Get a Free Domain Name (100% Guaranteed)

Are you looking for an easy way to get a free domain name for your business?

A domain name is your website or business name on the internet. People can type it in their browser’s address bar to visit your website. For example, wpbeginner.com.

Normally a domain name registrar charges anywhere from $9.99 – $14.99 per year, but there are other ways to get a domain name for free.

In this article, we will show you proven ways to quickly get a free domain name. We will also cover what’s the catch behind these free domain names, and things you need to watch out for.

Easy ways to get a free domain name

What’s the Catch with Free Domain Names?

You might be wondering if domain names cost an annual fee, why would any company offer free domain name registration?

Well that’s because they profit from it indirectly.

To build a website, you need two things: domain name and web hosting.

Domain name is your website’s address on the internet whereas web hosting is where your website files and content are stored. See our article on the difference between domain name and web hosting for more details.

Majority of the “trustworthy” free domain name offers that you will see on the internet are from web hosting companies. They offer free domain name to customers who host their websites with them, and the cost of the domain name is recouped from the hosting fee.

This is a great deal for small business owners who’re looking to make a website or start a blog. You need web hosting to build a website regardless, so getting a free domain name is a great deal.

We use this method all the time and highly recommend it for all users.

Now there are some other companies that will offer a free domain name in exchange for you displaying their advertisements or placing their tracking scripts on your website.

We strongly recommend that you avoid these offers. They will likely distribute malware and viruses through your website, and this can become a legal liability for you. The $10 / year saving is not worth a bad reputation or the legal troubles.

How to Use Distraction Free Full Screen Editor in WordPress

Crafting your blog posts is a creative process that requires attention to details and concentration. Many writers feel distracted by the on-screen elements of the WordPress writing interface like buttons, columns, toolbars, etc.

WordPress comes with a built-in distraction-free mode for writing. It hides unnecessary elements and gives you a fullscreen canvas to create content.

In this article, we will show you how to use the distraction-free fullscreen editor in WordPress. You will be able to switch between regular and distraction free mode without affecting your content.

Using a distraction-free fullscreen editor in WordPress

The first thing you need to do is log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Posts » Add New to create a new post. You’ll see the post editor with the toolbar and settings columns.

WordPress Post Editor

As you can see in the screenshot above, a WordPress editor screen has the dashboard menu on the left, the document (post) settings on the right, and toolbar on the top.

While these options are important, you don’t need them all the time.

The distraction free editor allows you to hide them while writing and show them only when needed.

To enable the fullscreen mode, you need to click on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the screen. You will see the hidden options and tools including View modes, Editor options, plugin options, and more.

Simply click on the ‘Fullscreen Mode’ option.

Select Fullscreen Mode in WordPress Post Editor

It will hide the WordPress menu on the left and the top toolbar. Now your screen would look much cleaner.

WordPress Editor when Fullscreen Mode Enabled

The new WordPress editor is a block-based editor where you need to use a new block for every piece of content.

WordPress blocks

If you make a content-heavy post, then there will be several blocks visible on the screen at one time.

But what if you wanted to simplify it even further?

This is where ‘Spotlight Mode’ comes in handy. Enabling Spotlight mode will highlight the current block you are working on and dim all other blocks.

Simply click on the three dots icon on the top right corner of the screen and then select the Spotlight Mode.

Enable Spotlight Mode in WordPress Editor

Now you can add / edit content on your block without any distractions around. For example, in the screenshot below you will only see the Paragraph block in full color while others are faded out.

Spotlight Mode Enabled in WordPress Editor

There are two toolbars you will still see on the screen. The one on the top allows you to add new blocks, undo changes, and show an outline of your article.

The second toolbar is the one that appears on top of each block. Most of the times, the block toolbar overlaps with the other block just above it. This can be confusing.

To clean this up, you can move the block toolbar to the top as well. Simply click on the 3 dots icon on the top right corner and then select the ‘Top Toolbar’ option.

Top Toolbar Option in WordPress Editor

Now your block tools for every block will in a single place, on the top.

Top Toolbar Enabled in WordPress Post Editor

You can also hide the Document/Block Settings box on the left. The box includes important metadata fields like categories, tags, featured image, etc. for your post and block style settings.

But if you don’t need it, then simply click on the Settings icon to hide the Document/Block Settings box.

WordPress Editor Settings Icon

You can show it again by clicking on the same icon.

Also, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl +Shift + , (Command + Shift + , for Mac) to hide or show the Document/Block settings.

Using Distraction Free Editor in Classic WordPress Editor

If you have not upgraded your website to WordPress 5.0 or a later version, then your post editor looks and works differently. It’s called the Classic Editor.

To launch the full-screen mode in the Classic Editor, you need to click on the ‘Distraction-free writing mode’ button in your post menu bar.

Distraction-free Writing Mode in Classic WordPress Editor

WordPress will now gracefully convert the post edit screen into a clutter-free full-screen editor.

Distraction-free Writing Mode Enabled in Classic Editor

The full-screen editor has a minimalist layout. It has a menu bar on top of the screen with the text formatting options.

Just like the regular post edit screen, full-screen editor is also available in both visual and text editor.

The visual editor in full screen mode allows you to make text bold or italic, create lists, add links, and insert media using the buttons. Most WordPress keyboard shortcuts will work just like they did on the default edit screen.

Fullscreen Classic WordPress Editor in Visual Mode

Switching to text editor will hide all those buttons. You will only see buttons to add links or insert media.

Fullscreen Classic WordPress Editor in Text Mode

Full screen editor does not have a Publish button or any meta boxes to choose categories and tags. After writing your post, you can exit the full screen mode to select your post options.

You can click the same ‘Distraction-free writing mode’ icon to exit the full-screen mode. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Shift+Alt+W to enable or disable the full-screen mode in WordPress Classic editor.

In our experience, the full-screen mode allows us to write faster. Several students have told us that they use this distraction free mode in WordPress when writing research papers.

We hope this article helped you to use distraction free full screen editor in WordPress. You may also want to see our guide on how to check grammar and spelling mistakes in WordPress.

How to Create a Free Business Email Address in 5 Minutes (Step by Step)

Do you want to create a professional business email address for free? A business email address uses your company name instead of the generic gmail or yahoo account. In this article, we will show you how to easily create a free business email address in less than 5 minutes.

How to Create a Free Business Email Address

What is a Business Email Address and Why You Need it?

A professional business email address has your company name instead of the generic gmail or yahoo account, for example: john@stargardening.com

Most beginners use generic free business email accounts without a domain name which isn’t very professional. For example: john.smith2019@gmail.com or jsmithfromstargardening@yahoo.com.

Since anyone can create these generic email accounts, it becomes harder for customers and other businesses to trust such email addresses as legitimate business email accounts.

Below are the top 4 reasons why you need a professional email address for your business:

  • A custom business email address looks more professional.
  • It is also short and easy to remember.
  • A professional business email address helps you earn customer’s trust as a legitimate business.
  • Sending emails with your own business name allows you to promote your brand with each email you send.

The best part is that you can get your own custom business email address for free, which means there is no excuse for not getting it.

If you want your customers and other businesses to take you seriously, then you need to start using a professional business email address, immediately.

What Do You Need to Create a Business Email Address?

You will need to have domain name and a website to create a free business email address.

After that, you will need an email service provider to handle your business emails.

There are a few different solutions that you can use to create a professional business email address.

We will show you two different methods, and you can choose the one that best fits your needs.

The first method is free and fairly easy to setup whereas the second method has a small fee, but it offers a lot more features.

Method 1. Creating a Business Email Address for Free

This method is easy and available to almost everyone who has a website. It allows you to create a business email address for free.

When creating a small business website, you will need to buy a domain and signup for web hosting.

What most beginners don’t know is that many WordPress hosting companies offer free business email features as part of the package.

Normally, a domain name costs 14.99 per year and website hosting starts from $7.99 per month. If you were to use a paid email service, then you can add another $5 per email account.

Luckily, Bluehost, one of the largest WordPress hosting company in the world, has agreed to offer WPBeginner users a free domain name and 60% off discount on hosting.

This means you can start your business website for $2.75 per month (and it comes with a free business email address).

Here is the complete step by step instructions to create your free business email address with Bluehost.

Step 1. Setup your Business Address (Domain Name)

First, you need to visit the Bluehost website and click on the green ‘Get Started Now’ button.

Bluehost get started button

This will bring you to a pricing page where you need to click on the ‘Select’ button below the plan you want to use.

Basic and Plus plans are the most popular among small businesses who are just getting started.

Select plan

After selecting your plan, you will be asked to choose your domain name. You need to enter your business name and click on the ‘Next’ button.

Choose a domain name

Bluehost will now check to see if a domain name matching your business name is available. If it is not, then it will show you some alternative suggestions, or you can look for another domain name.

Here are some quick tips on choosing the perfect domain name for your business email address.

  • Always choose a .com domain name. See our article on the difference between .com vs .net domain names to learn more.
  • Keep your domain name short, easy to remember and pronounce.
  • Do not use numbers or hyphens in your domain name
  • Try using keywords and business location in your domain name to make it unique. For example, if stargardening.com is not available, then look for stargardeninghouston.com

For more tips, take a look at our guide on how to choose the best domain name for your business.

Choosing a good domain name is crucial for your business but don’t spend too much time on that, or you will never get past this step.

After choosing your domain name, you will need to add your account information and finalize the package info to complete the process.

On this screen, you will see optional extras that you can purchase. We don’t recommend choosing them at this time. If you need them, then you can always add them later from your account.

Finalize account information

Lastly, you need to enter your payment information to finish the purchase.

You will receive an email with details on how to login to your web hosting control panel. This is where you manage everything including website management, business email accounts, and other settings.

Step 2. Creating Your Free Business Email Address

In your hosting account dashboard, you need to click on the ‘Email’ section and then click on ‘Add Email Account’ tab.

Add a new email account

Enter a username and password for your email account and then click on the ‘Create Account’ button.

Bluehost will now create the email account, and you will see a success message.

Step 3. Using Your Business Email Account

Now that you have created your free business email account, the next step is to learn how to use it to send and receive emails.

Under the ‘Email’ section on your hosting account, switch to the ‘Email Accounts’ tab. You will see your newly created email address listed there.

Manage your email account

You can click on the ‘Access webmail’ link and Bluehost will take you to a webmail interface. This is a good option if you don’t want to use an email client on your desktop or mobile.

The downside is that you will have to login to your hosting account each time you want to check your email. A better way is to click on connect devices and then click on “Set Up Mail Client” link.

Bluehost will show you the information needed to use your business email address with any mail client or app. You can use this information to setup your business email inOutlook, Gmail, or any Mail app for your mobile phone or desktop.

Note: the process of creating a business email is pretty much the same with other hosting companies that offer cPanel like SiteGround, HostGator, and InMotion Hosting.

Method 2. Creating a Business Email Address using G Suite

Google offers professional business email address with G Suite which includes Gmail, Docs, Drive, and Calendar for businesses.

This method is not free, but it allows you to use Gmail for your professional business email with your own business name.

While there’s a small cost, it comes with many advantages:

  • You will be using Gmail’s familiar interface and apps to send and receive emails.
  • Google has far superior technology which ensures that your emails are delivered right away, and they don’t end up in spam folders.
  • Your website hosting company has shared server resources. This means they don’t want you to send too many emails. Gmail on the other hand will allow you to send up to 2000 emails per day.
    • We use G Suite for our business email address here at WPBeginner.

That being said, let’s take a look at how to setup a business email address using G Suite.

Step 1. Sign up for a G Suite Account

G Suite basic plan costs $5 per user each month. It gives you access to Gmail, Docs, Drive, Calendar, and audio/video conferencing with 30 GB of cloud storage for each user.

You will also need a domain name, which you can purchase during the signup. If you already have a domain name and a website, then you can use your existing domain with G Suite.

To get started, simply visit the G Suite website and click on the get started button.

      Get started with G Suite

On the next screen, you will be asked to enter your business name, the number of employees, and country where you are located. You can choose just yourself for 1 user account, or choose the number of employees.

      Enter business name and users

Note: You will be charged for each user account, so it is better to start small. You can always add more users when needed.

Click on the next button to continue.

On the next step, you will be asked to enter your personal contact information including name and email address.

      Enter contact information

After that, you will be asked to choose a domain name. If you already have a domain name, then click on ‘Yes I have one I can use’.

If you don’t have a domain, then click on ‘No, I need one’ to register a domain name.

      Choose a domain name

If you need to register a new domain name, then you will be charged separately for registering a new domain name. The cost of a domain name will be displayed on the screen and usually starts from $14.99.

If you are using an existing domain name, then you will need to verify that you own that domain name. We will show you how to do that later in this article.

After choosing your domain name, you will be asked to create your user account by entering a username and password.

This username will also be your first business email address, so you need to choose a username that you want to use as your business email address.

      Create account

After that, you will see a success message and a button to continue with the setup.

      Continue with the set up

Step 2. Setting up Business Email with G Suite

In this step, you will complete the G Suite setup by adding users and connecting it to your website or domain name.

On the setup screen, you will be asked to add more people to your account. If you want to create more accounts for your employees or departments, then you can do that here.

You can also just click on ‘I have added all user email addresses’ and click on the next button.

Remember, you can always add more users to your account and create their email addresses later when needed.

      Add users

If you are using G Suite with an existing domain name, then you will be asked to verify that you own that domain name. To do that, you will now see a HTML code snippet that you need to add to your website.

      Copy meta tag

There are other ways to verify your ownership as well. You can upload a HTML file to your website using an FTP client or file manager app in your hosting account dashboard.

If you don’t have a website, then you can use the MX Record method to verify your ownership of the domain name. You will see step by step instructions to do that once you choose this method.

For the sake of this article, we are assuming that you already have a WordPress website, and we will show you how to add the verification HTML code snippet in WordPress.

First, go to the admin area of your WordPress website to install and activate the Insert Headers and Footer plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, go to Settings » Insert Headers and Footer page and paste the HTML code you copied from G Suite under the ‘Scripts in Header’ section.

      Site verification

Don’t forget to click on the ‘Save’ button to store your settings.

Now switch back to your G Suite setup screen and click on the checkbox that says ‘I added the meta tag to my homepage’.

      Verify domain name

After that, you will be asked to enter MX record entries for your domain name. We will show you how to do that in the next step.

Step 3. Adding Domain MX Records

Note: This section is for users with existing domain names and websites. If you registered a new domain name via Google, then you don’t need to read this.

Domain names tell internet servers where to look for information. Since your domain name is not registered with Google, your emails will reach your domain name, but not to the Google servers.

You will need to setup the right MX records on your domain name settings, so Google’s servers can send and receive emails for your business.

To do that, you will need to login to your web hosting account, or your domain registrar account.

In our article, we will show you how to add MX records in Bluehost, but the basic settings are the same on all hosts and domain registrars. Basically, you will be looking for DNS settings under your domain name.

Login to your Bluehost hosting dashboard and click on ‘Domains’. On the next page, select your domain name and then click on the ‘Manage’ link next to DNS Zone Editor option.

      Domain name settings

Bluehost will now open your DNS zone editor. You need to switch back to your G Suite setup screen and check the box that says ‘I have opened the control panel of my domain name’.

      G Suite MX records

It will now show you the MX records that you need to enter. You will also see a link to the documentation which shows you how to add these records to dozens of hosting and domain services provider.

Here is how you will add this information to your Bluehost DNS settings:

      Adding MX records in Bluehost

Click on ‘Add Record’ button to save it. After that, repeat the process to add all five lines as MX records.

Once you are finished, switch back to G Suite setup and check the box next to ‘I created the new MX records’.

      Created new MX records

You will be asked to delete any existing MX records still pointing to your website hosting or domain name registrar.

To do this, you need to switch back to your DNS zone editor and scroll down to the MX records section. You will see the MX records you created earlier along with an older MX record still pointing to your website.

      Delete old MX records

Click on the delete button next to the old MX record to delete it.

After that, switch back to the G Suite setup screen and check the box that says ‘I deleted existing MX records’.

      Save MX records

You will now be asked to save your MX records. For some providers, once you add MX records they are already saved, for others you may need to manually save MX records.

Once you have saved MX records, check the box that says ‘I have saved MX records’ in G Suite setup.

      Verify domain and setup email

After that you need to click on ‘Verify domain and setup email’ button to exit the setup wizard.

Step 4. Managing email in G Suite

G Suite makes it super easy to manage your email account. You can simply visit the Gmail website to check your email or use the official Gmail apps on your phone to send and receive emails.

You will need to sign in using your business email address as your username.

To create more business email addresses simply go to the G Suite Admin console. From here you can add new users, make payments, and adjust your G Suite account settings.
